Century Communities has acquired the remaining 400+ acres of the 1,700-acre Skye Canyon development in Las Vegas, which ranks as the 22nd top-selling master-planned community in the country based on new home sales. The builder also has acquired land for two new Texas communities with a combined 700 lots. One community will be built in Katy, and will be named Aurora. The other will be built in Tomball, named Fairway Farms. These come on the heels of the builders announcement earlier this month plans for development of 12 new communities in the Nashville market.
The Vegas acquisition makes Century Communities Skye Canyon's master developer. Century Communities has a successful track record of overseeing the build-out of several master-planned communities in the region, such as Tuscany Village in Henderson and Rhodes Ranch in southwest Las Vegas. Since the acquisition, Century Communities has already begun construction on what will eventually be 2,500 additional homes for new and existing Skye Canyon communities, including three communities slated to open in 2021, and three actively selling communities: Aspen, Madera and Northglenn. "Century Communities has been at Skye Canyon since its inception, and we're thrilled that this agreement ensures we'll be there through its completion," said Robb Beville, Nevada Division President. "We're also grateful to Olympia Companies for working with us to ensure a smooth transition and continuity with the HOA." Other builders in Skye Canyon include Beazer Homes, Pardee Homes, Toll Brothers, Pulte Homes, Woodside Homes and Lennar. Two New Texas Projects In Texas each community will offer the homebuilder's popular Lonestar and Liberty collections, boasting single-family new homes with single- and two-story floor plans and in-demand features. Fairway Farms is projected to open in spring 2021, and Aurora is projected to open in summer 2021. "Marking our entrance to the charming cities of Katy and Tomball, we're excited that these communities will expand the presence of our sought-after Lonestar and Liberty new home collections," said Chris Chew, Houston Division President. "We encourage homebuyers interested in these developments to join our interest list, which will ensure they're the first to know about community updates and Grand Opening information." Music City Expansion "We're thrilled to continue to expand our presence in the Nashville market, providing homebuyers a greater variety of locations, community amenities and home types to choose from," said John Hennebery, Nashville division president. "Buyers who act now have an exceptional opportunity to get in early at their community of choice as demand continues to rise." Brookfield Residential plans to unveil its highly anticipated Alamar master-planned community on Saturday, Oct. 10. Located just north of the Sierra Estrella Mountains in Avondale, Ariz., Alamar represents the largest masterplan to be developed in the Valley since Eastmark launched in Mesa in 2013.
Alamar will feature a total 3,695 homes once all phases are complete. However, the first phase of development will include 461 homesites developed within 6 unique neighborhoods. Four distinct architectural styles of homes will provide a rich variety of architecture to promote individual character among the homes and add to the community’s overall street scene. Those styles include Craftsman/Bungalow, Spanish Colonial, Territorial Ranch and Traditional Southwest. Opportunities to tour the model homes without appointment will also be available based on observing the safety guidelines established by each of the six Alamar builders, including Shea Homes, Gehan Homes, David Weekley, Taylor Morrison, Capital West and Landsea. In response to the safety concerns of the pandemic, Brookfield is celebrating its grand opening with an innovative twist. Potential homebuyers can tour the entire property from the comfort and safety of their own car, while a pre-recorded radio message (available with all car AM/FM radios) plays on loop and guides them with details of what they are seeing throughout the 1,127-acre community. “This event will be unlike anything we’ve ever done before, and frankly, I think people will really enjoy the convenience and ingenuity of the tour,” Brookfield Residential Arizona Division President, John Bradley said. “Months of planning and preparation have gone into the design of the event to ensure homebuyers get a complete picture of the community and its offerings.” Brookfield has been working closely with the City of Avondale to align the master-planned community with the City’s desire to celebrate the natural beauty of the Sierra Estrella Mountains and provide a framework for community health and wellness. The focus on health and wellness will be realized through the design of family-friendly and multi-generational neighborhoods carefully orchestrated with dozens of trails, vast amounts of open space, and more than 30 half-acre neighborhood parks with playgrounds, picnic tables, and shaded ramadas. In addition, the community will feature three larger, two- to three-acre community parks offering more recreational opportunities, like swimming, barbecuing, picnicking, and playing soccer, baseball or basketball – all enhanced by Alamar’s “WholeheARTedly Alamar” public art program, designed by Arizona’s most creative minds to connect neighbors and enrich the lives of those who call Alamar home. The outdoor public art will feature dynamic sculptures, pavement art and other museum-worthy installations that double as play spaces inspired by Alamar’s agrarian heritage and mountain-view setting. A 41-acre Regional community park will be built in partnership with the City of Avondale to serve as the central hub of the community, and will feature a lake, playing fields, sports courts, and an amphitheater for live events, concerts, and seasonal festivals. Extending beyond the community park, a number of mixed-use elements will provide a further sense of community and connection as neighbors run errands, shop and mingle close to home. Brookfield has also donated a 21-acre elementary school site to Avondale’s Littleton Elementary School District to build a best-in-class K-8 school with an enhanced curriculum.
